Healthy Acadia's Maine Alliance for Recovery Coaching (Maine-ARC), serving Hancock and Washington counties, is seeking to hire (4) four community professionals to serve as Recovery Coaches and join a dynamic team committed to making it easier for all people to lead healthier lives.
Recovery Coaches provide mentoring and guidance to individuals seeking recovery, as well as those affected by another person's substance use disorder. They offer compassionate, person-centered support and help connect individuals to resources that align with their goals and support their recovery journey.
Reporting to and working closely with the Co-Directors of Maine-ARC, the coaches will provide peer-based support in a variety of community and organizational settings, including emergency departments and other medical environments. This role is well-suited for individuals who are highly professional, adaptable, compassionate, and comfortable working across diverse systems of care.
Given the nature of this work, it is strongly preferred that candidates have lived experience with addiction recovery or meaningful personal experience with the recovery process. Familiarity with, or strong ties to the communities of Hancock and Washington counties is also highly valued.

Requirements for the selected candidate:
- Must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle for regular travel throughout their service area.
Qualifications and Experience Sought:
- Lived experience with personal addiction recovery, or strong, demonstrated understanding of the recovery process.
- Demonstrates personal and professional maturity, emotional stability, and sound judgment in all interactions.
- Respects and supports all pathways to recovery.
- Works well as part of a team, with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Builds and maintains positive, professional relationships with diverse individuals, including colleagues, participants, and community partners.
- Maintains a respectful, positive, and professional approach in all settings, treating others with dignity and care.
- Willingness and ability to complete required training, including the 5-day CCAR Recovery Coach Academy and Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches.
- Currently a Maine-registered or certified Recovery Coach, or able to complete certification requirements through the Maine Recovery Coach Certification Board (MRCCB).
- Demonstrates initiative and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
- Strong computer skills required; experience with Mac systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with email and Google Drive is preferred.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Patient, approachable, and personable in working with others.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position with strong benefits and opportunity for growth. Hourly pay range $19–$21. The position is funded from April 2026 through March 2028, with the strong likelihood of continuing in the long term. Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle & regular travel within the service region are required; some statewide travel and occasional weekend and/or evening meetings are expected.
