Salary: Part-time faculty members are paid on a credit hour basis based on prior teaching experience.
The Public Health program at the University of Southern Maine invites applications for a part-time faculty position that will teach Applied Biostatistical Analysis (MPH 545) in Fall 2025, beginning September 1, 2025.
Applied Biostatistical Analysis (MPH 545): This course is intended to give Master of Public Health students a working understanding of the major types of biostatistical analyses commonly used in public health, laboratory sciences, and clinical research. Topics include estimation, hypothesis testing, non-parametric statistical models, correlation, t-tests, analysis of variance, categorical data analysis, linear regression, and use of statistical software. Teaching schedule is Thursdays, 5 – 7:30PM, Hyflex (in person at the Portland Campus with simultaneous Zoom access) or fully online live via Zoom.
We are seeking student-focused instructors who will be responsible for the full delivery and grading of the course. Responsibilities include developing course content, teaching, assessing student performance, and meeting with students as needed. The instructor will be provided with the course learning objectives, program competencies, and suggested topical outline and will be given a previous course syllabus for reference. A previous full build of the course will also be provided, including lecture slides, assignments, etc., which the instructor is welcome to use at their discretion.
This class is for graduate students, including Master of Public Health students in the Public Health Program at the Muskie School of Public Service. The Muskie School is Maine’s distinguished public policy school, combining an extensive applied research and technical assistance portfolio with rigorous undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs in public health; geography-anthropology; tourism and hospitality; policy, planning, and management (MPPM); and fields of sustainable development and health and human service policy and management, and is home to the Cutler Institute for Health and Social Policy.
