National Public Health Week's theme this year is Building the Foundation for a Healthy America and MPHA has begun preparation and plans for our state-wide activities. We will be focusing our efforts on the This Is Public Health Campaign - www.thisispublichealth.org - and will be looking for member participation in this fun and engaging campaign to post stickers and to take pictures. Check out the brief explaination below or go to their site- its a simple, free and fun way to raise the awareness of our profession.
If you want to participate in the campaign or NPHW, please contact Angela Westhoff at awesthoff@mainedo.org.
Most people don't realize the impact that Public Health has on their lives, but there are examples all around you. There are factors that determine your health that you can control, and there are factors that you cannot. It's Public Health that fights both of those battles. Public Health isn't something that matters to someone else–Public Health is your health.
The "This Is Public Health" campaign is a way for Public Health students and advocates to demonstrate all the ways in which Public Health improves our lives.
As MPHA members and partners move further in the process we will be posting more to this page. Keep checking back or contact us if you would like to get involved! |
