NPHW events (April 6-12)
MPHA is pulling out all the stops this year for NPHW. Press releases will be going out to all major media outlets each day of the week. On Thursday, April 9th at 1:00 pm at the Welcome Center in the State House Building, the Association will hold a press event. Members of the House of Representatives and State Senate are expected to attend and we need you to be there as well!  Below are some details:

WHAT: Press event featuring Speaker Hannah Pingree; Dr. Dora Mills, Director of the Maine Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Representative Pat Jones (D-Mount Vernon); and Emily Rines, President of MPHA.

WHY: Raise Awareness of National Public Health Week and the “This is Public Health” sticker campaign.

WHEN: Thursday, April 9th at 1:00 pm at the Welcome Center, first floor of the State House Building, Augusta.

In addition to the press event, Governor Baldacci has signed a proclamation acknowledging April 6-12th as Public Health Awareness Week in Maine. We will be joining Maine Association of Substance Abuse Programs on April 6th for their press conference on alcohol awareness month and provide some brief comments. A big thank you to MPHA member Malory Shaughnessy for coordinating this partnership!

Hope to see you during NPHW!
